There are four principle stumbling blocks to comprehending truth which hinder well nigh every scholar:
The example of frail and unworthy authority, long established customs, the sense of the ignorant crowd, and the hiding of ones' ignorance under the show of wisdom.
Roger Bacon, thirteenth century monk

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to
believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the
people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It
thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress
dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the
truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
-- Joseph Goebbels, German Minister of Propaganda, 1933-1945
"Fascism should rightly be called corporatism as it is a merger of state and
corporate power--Benito Mussolini
"Behind the ostensible government sits enthroned an invisible government
owing no allegiance and acknowledging no responsibility to the people. To
destroy this invisible government, to befoul the unholy alliance between corrupt
business and corrupt politics is the first task of the statesmanship of the day."
--Theodore Roosevelt, April 19, 1906

Then I Saw Christmas
lenny
Went to Esplanade Mall. Did not look like a Christmas rush crowd. I did not hear any Christmas music
and no one thought to wish me Merry Christmas until I wished it to them first. They replied in a
non-chalant, oh I forgot, manner.
It finallly happened. Christ was no longer in Christmas and Christmas was not a part of the Holidays. You
could not see Santa Claus unless you went into an enclosure and paid to have a picture taken.
And God forbid there would be a public manger display in the mall.
Don't get me wrong now, Christ was on sale for pieces of silver. There were not many in the stores to
buy and as the sales go down, the retailers will start holding their noses as they reluctantly wish you a
Merry Christmas.
Well, I was a little depressed as I walked back to my car in the parking lot.
Then I saw Christmas. It came to me like the star beaming over the stable in Bethlehem so long ago.
The light came from the smile of a little boy. He was just beaming and smiling at me. His mother was
struggling to get a sweater over his head, but he didn't want to take his eyes off me. I smiled back and
waved to him. His voice sang to me, "Merry Christmas, Santa Claus."
My heart jumped. I almost said, "Happy Birthday" but caught myself and slipped in "Christmas" after
"Happy". Then, maybe my first inclination (Happy Birthday, Jesus), might have been correct..
I jumped into my white 160 reindeer powered van and off I flew, leaving behind a half empty Xmas
parking lot and One Beautiful, Happy, Christmas Child. A happy tear chasing down my cheek and into
my grey/white beard, told me that yes, in this surreal moment, I was indeed Santa Claus and all was right
with my world.

Texas Annex Us
I doubt they would after the big fiasco in Houston. We do need a states regional control with the Long Road
Home. Louisiana has proved to be incapable of handling this project. It is not handling it's citizens misfortune in
a fast and efficient way. Many are suffering utter dispair and are not given much hope. A regional board of
surrounding states would stem corruption in the Long Road Home and help these people move on with their
lives.
Governor Blanco, get off your butt and help these people ASAP or resign and leave Louisiana. You will not be
remembered for caring for your constituents. Now don't hunch your shoulders with your palms up. Do The Right
THING, ASAP

Military-industrial complex From SourceWatch Jump to: navigation, search
The phrase military-industrial complex was first used on January 17, 1961, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower [1] in his farewell address to the nation in what is called his Military Industrial Complex Speech:
"In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. "We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together."
His children suggest that in an earlier draft of the speech, he refered to the "military-industrial-congressional complex".
